Tennessee Bandmasters Honors Recital
PURPOSE
The Tennessee Bandmasters Association, in conjunction with ETSBOA, MTSBOA, and WTSBOA, will recognize two outstanding soloists and one ensemble from each region in an effort to encourage and support the study and performance of significant wind and percussion solo and ensemble literature.
AWARD
Each regional association will solicit applicants from their member organizations and may select two soloists and one ensemble to represent their region at the state level. These performances will take place at the Tennessee Bandmasters Association Honors Recital on Thursday afternoon, April 11th, 2025 (date and time is tentative) during the Tennessee Music Education Association State Conference at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville.
ELIGIBILITY
- Applicants must be current 9th-12th grade wind or percussion players.
- Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements as established by the regional association; their band director must be a member of the regional association and TBA at the time of application.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
- Applicants must submit a completed application form, upload a youtube link of a video of their performance, and a PDF copy of the music performed. The recording should be no more than six minutes in length with the applicant performing a movement from a concerto or other significant solo literature for their instrument. Unless the work is intended to be unaccompanied, accompaniment is strongly recommended. Ensembles should perform significant literature for their ensemble.
- The youtube video link must be clearly named with the applicant’s or ensemble’s name. Please be advised that very poor recording sound quality may affect evaluation but that no consideration will be given to varying levels of equipment used. The video also should be presented in one unaltered cut.
DEADLINE
Materials must be received by Friday, March 7th, 2025 at 3:30pm CST. Once received you will receive an email confirmation. Auditions may be submitted at the link below:
