TBA Honors Recital
TENNESSEE BANDMASTERS ASSOCIATION
HONORS RECITAL APPLICATION PROCEDURE
PURPOSE
The Tennessee Bandmasters Association, in partnership with ETSBOA, MTSBOA, and
WTSBOA, will recognize two outstanding soloists and one small-ensemble from each Region to
encourage and support the study and performance of significant wind and percussion
solo/ensemble literature.
AWARD
Each Regional Association will solicit applicants from their member organizations selecting two
soloists and one small ensemble to represent their Region at the state level. Those selected will
perform at the upcoming Tennessee Bandmasters Honors Recital Concert to take
place the opening Wednesday evening of the Tennessee Music Education Association State
Conference.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be a current 9th – 12th grade wind or percussion player and must meet all
eligibility requirements as established by the local Regional Association. Supporting Band
Directors must be a member of the Regional Association and TBA prior to the time of
application.
APPLICATION PROCEDURES
Auditions and selection of participants will be developed and sequenced by the Regional
Associations. Please consult the Regional President or the Regional Representative of
Tennessee Bandmasters Association for procedures and deadlines.
CONCERT DEADLINE
A finalized listing of participants selected to the Honors Recital Concert will be submitted to the
President of TBA by March 1 along with a bio of the performer(s) and the musical selection
being performed.
ACCEPTANCE CONSIDERATIONS
Selected performers are responsible for their own travel and housing costs as well as engaging
their own accompanist. There may be limited or no rehearsal time prior to the performance.
